Established in the spring of 1996, Croghan AutoCare, Ltd., located just north of Wilmington in Clinton County, has been providing quality automotive and light truck repair for car owners from Wilmington, Sabina, Blanchester, and New Vienna and surrounding counties such as Greene, Warren, and Fayette in southwestern Ohio.
It’s About Quality, Not Quantity
“One-day service!” That’s a great sales line, and one that we can normally accommodate with planned preventative maintenance and minor repairs. However, time is always a necessary ingredient for quality work, and therefore one-day service isn’t always possible.
In order to come to the correct diagnosis, figure out what the right repair procedure is, get the right parts at the right price, coordinate with the owner, and perform the necessary quality repairs, sufficient time is required. We are always told by new and current customers how much they appreciate the time and the effort that we put into figuring out exactly what is wrong with their vehicle. Of course, ongoing training, decades of experience and the tools to do the job help keep the actual repair time as short as a quality job can be performed.
It’s About You, the Customer
Our new and current customers also tell us how much they appreciate it when, after all of the diagnostics we put into their vehicles, we then take the time to explain it to our customers in a manner that they can understand. Most of our customers don’t know the difference between long-term fuel trims and evaporative vent solenoids, but we do and we can explain it. A big part of Jim’s job is explaining the technical to the non-technical in a manner that they can understand sufficiently to make wise decisions on suggested repairs. He really enjoys the customer education part of the job.
We are interested in long-term relationships with our customers, and it shows in how we treat people and how we do our work. If you’re ready for an approach which emphasizes transparency and education, you’ve come to the right mechanic! Call us today to schedule your auto repair.
The employees at Croghan AutoCare, Ltd. like to let their reputations speak for themselves. Personal attention, professional repair, and a keen attention to detail are what make our business successful. Call us for an oil change and watch our staff at work, and we’ll prove our professionalism to you: Isn’t that better than a bunch of hype on a website?
Still, you’re here because you want to know more about us before you give us a try. We respect that.
Jim Croghan, Owner
Jim has been in the auto repair business professionally since the start of Croghan AutoCare, Ltd. in the spring of 1996. Before that, he spent nine years traveling the world employed by the Central Intelligence Agency. The Agency was a very pro-education environment where Jim honed his skills in electronics and was being trained in management skills. In his decade at the Agency, Jim worked as a bench technician, a field technician and as a technical representative to a facilities engineering branch for the overseas operations of satellite, computer and cryptographic communications equipment.
Following his graduation from Wilmington High School, Jim earned an A.S. in Electronic Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute in 1986. Growing up on a small farm north of Wilmington gave him plenty of opportunity to learn the basics of mechanical repair and electronics. “Every day at Croghan AutoCare, Ltd. is a joy for me: I love the business that I run, the people I get to work with and the people that I serve.”
Being Green In a Dirty World. Being Green?
Well that’s just how we have always operated. We have recycled coolants, scrap metals. batteries and used oils for the entire time that we have been in business. We recycle what we can just because it’s the right thing to do and we recently added a recycling dumpster so that we can include plastic bottles, cardboard, old manuals and catalogs, and glass to our recycling program.
We also burn all of our used oils on site in an EPA approved furnace. This not only gets rid of the waste from oil changes and transmission flushes, but provides a warm environment for our employees to work in during the winter months. This essentially means that the used oil from your summertime oil change can be used to melt the snow and ice from your vehicle during your winter time oil change. We are registered with earth911.com as a collection site for any farm, industrial, or automotive used oil. This includes engine, automatic transmission. manual transmission, and gear oils, brake fluid, heating oils, vegetable and cooking oils (must be liquid at room temperature), kerosene and diesel fuel. We accept small containers during regular business hours. For larger quantities, please call for an appointment.
